Crater Song is now available!
Crater Song is a short, single-player co-op adventure puzzle game for the 8-bit NES based within the sci-fi fantasy world of Orebody.
In this unique NES game, players hold controllers 1 AND 2 sideways, like Wii-motes, and control two characters simultaneously, the twins Arco and Menuett. Crater Song is inspired by the game Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons.
The game was developed for the NESMaker Byte-Off IV competition, which is currently going on and ends on March 17. But I finished early and wanted to share it on Itch first. The game is available to download here for free for use via emulation or on original NES or NES-compatible hardware.
I have included two ROMs in the zip file. One is made for use with two NES-style controllers via emulation or on real hardware -- and the other is optimized for emulation use, with the idea being the player will use the WASD and Arrow Keys on the keyboard the control both characters simultaneously.
If you play the game and like it, and you haven't checked out other Orebody games, I encourage you to do so.
Since this is the first time the project has been share publically, please share any bugs or issues on the game's main page. There's one strange bug I'm still trying to fix, but it (hopefully) isn't game-breaking for anybody.
Cheers,
John
