A Good Place to Be
Hey folks,
Truth be told, I’ve never been happy with the state of neMULEsis until this update. For those who’ve been following the progress on the game, it might be obvious why. But for the first time I believe the game is mostly stable. Yes, slowdown issues persist, and development will continue for the foreseeable future, but this is finally a version that provides a decent experience from beginning to end. It's a good place to be.
I realize that at this point, unless players have been using emulators with save states, probably nobody has actually gotten to the end of neMULEsis. This is because of all the damn game-ending bugs. Well, I’m happy to report that with this update, I hope those days are behind us. Levels 4 and 5 will still test your mettle, but with unlimited continues and enough practice, victory should be possible for most.
Updates:
I finally fixed the bug where the player could get stuck in solid blocks. It turns out it was a really dumb error on my part. Thank god for hours of testing.
The final boss of Level 3 now fully disappears when defeated. This was possible because of bugs I fixed in the last update. Hurray!
Increased duration of enemy projectiles after decreasing it last time. It impacted design and challenge.
Changed the color of the plasma exploding weapon to blue to differentiate it from red enemy projectiles.
Improved the Rabid Wampus fight in Level 4 yet again. It’s again a little more challenging, but also more fun as a result.
I believe I fixed a minor bug where enemies would appear drawn in the middle of the screen when they were loading at the edge of the right side of the screen. These appeared frequently as “ghost” images although in the underwater level they were very prominent.
Unfortunately, I had to make some changes that may slightly increase slowdown, especially when using the exploding plasma weapon or the double-shot weapon. No way around it given the current interlocking systems that the game kinda depends on. The laser still works great! So, that’s a win.
Minor fixes to graphical mistakes, some boss encounters, and other minor improvements. It all adds up.
