Wampus DX Definitive Edition

As promised, this is a massive update to Wampus DX.

I've added two new ability upgrades that players get at the end of dungeons 2 and 3, respectively.

The first is a Wampus Burrow mechanic that allows players to burrow into the ground and become invulnerable whenever they want. This can be used to dodge enemy projectiles or just assess a room from the safety of the underground.

The second is a Wampus Rock Bomb that can be used to clear specific obstacles or as simply another weapon option.

In addition to these abilities, I have updated many screens to encourage players to make use of the abilities once they are unlocked.

To encourage players to make use of the burrow mechanic, I've updated all enemy projectiles to ignore solids. This not only reduces slowdown in the game, but it also gives players more of a reason to burrow when under a barrage of enemy projectiles. I've also added sections where players cannot avoid invulnerable enemies unless they use burrow.

To encourage Rock Bomb usage, I've added a lot of bomb-able barriers after dungeon 3.

I have also updated the final dungeon to encourage players to make use of all their collective abilities.

I've updated the Gollumer boss, the Bonzoid boss, the Mega Mechtron boss, and the Cat Bug Queen boss. Honestly, I've made so many minor changes that I've lost count.

I've also added another secret in the game that features the heroes from Wart Worm Wingding and Bat Lizard Bonanza. Can you find them hanging out in the game?

Not only Wampus, but the entire MULEniverse set of NES games I've made are labors of love. They were never about "making money." In fact, I still haven't made the money back I've collectively spent on hiring a composer for the games. No, this giant project was never a profit-driven one. It was about my love for the universe established in Danielle Bunten's M.U.L.E.. Once I began  Wampus, I just had more and more ideas, and what started as a joke between friends has now ballooned into four NES games across four distinct genres. These are games about resistance and about the little guy standing up against insurmountable odds. They are games about justice and hope, despite their silly aesthetic and characters.

The MULEniverse project on the NES is ending soon. My hope is that these quirky, weird games live on and that fans of MULE, or anybody really, someday find them and appreciate playing them as much as I've appreciated making them.

Glory with the moon. Mercy on the Earth.
